Appeal lodged against acquittal of Air France and Airbus over 2009 crash

The public prosecutor's office in Paris is appealing against the exoneration of Air France and Airbus - the two firms were acquitted by a court on April 17 of manslaughter charges over the 2009 Rio to Paris crash in which 228 people died.

SCHOOL STRIKES IN ENGLAND

Tens of thousands of teachers are on strike in England on Thursday in a row over pay.

The government has criticised disruption as pupils prepare for summer exams.

But unions say strikes could continue into 2024 if a pay offer is not increased.

Indian and Chinese Defence Ministers to meet in New Delhi

UN says situation in Haiti needs urgent attention

The United Nations says Haitians are living through an alarming surge
in violence in the country.
Addressing the security council on Wednesday, the UN's Haiti
representative Maria Isabel Salvador said the number of violent
incidents has more than doubled since last year.
Haiti has been plagued by political instability following the
assassination of President Jovenel Moïse.
