UN says situation in Haiti needs urgent attention

The United Nations says Haitians are living through an alarming surge
in violence in the country.
Addressing the security council on Wednesday, the UN's Haiti
representative Maria Isabel Salvador said the number of violent
incidents has more than doubled since last year.
Haiti has been plagued by political instability following the
assassination of President Jovenel Moïse.
Salvador says the situation has worsened and this has led to dire food
shortages in the country.
