UN holds remembrance ceremony for Holocaust victims

On Friday people around the world are marking International Holocaust Remembrance Day.


The annual memorial day remembers the six million Jewish people killed under Nazi persecution during the Second World War.


It also memorialises the millions of other minorities killed by the Nazis and in subsequent genocides.


The United Nations is holding a series of events and a ceremony in memory of the victims of the Holocaust.

Memphis braces for outrage as “heinous” police beating video is released

Officials in the US city of Memphis are bracing for outrage and protests on Friday when law enforcement releases a violent video of an encounter between police and a black motorist that ended in his death.

Twenty-nine-year-old Tyre (PRONO: Tie-ree) Nichols died three days after he was pulled over and beaten by five black officers earlier this month.

Those officers have all been fired and charged with second-degree murder, assault, and kidnapping.

International Holocaust Remembrance day is being marked around the world in memory of the victims of the Nazis.

In the UK - a new exhibition about survivors of the Holocaust has opened at the Imperial War Museum North in Manchester.

It's filled with their portraits - to celebrate their lives and connections with younger generations who'll ensure their stories live on.

98-year-old Marianne Philipps was born in Germany but now lives in Manchester lost nearly all of her family in the Holocaust.

New US sanctions on Russia's Wagner Group

The United States has announced new sanctions on individuals and entities linked to the Wagner Group, a private Russian paramilitary organisation, accusing it of being involved in Russia's war in Ukraine.
