Joe Biden takes stage at COP27 to defend U.S. climate action

Joe Biden addressed the United Nations climate talks in Egypt.

The U.S. president had hoped it would be somewhat of a climate victory
lap, in light of his administration's efforts to transition to clean
energy..

..But as U.S. correspondent Gabrielle Fahmy reports, Biden didn't
escape criticism aimed at the U.S.

EU expects recession to hit in winter months

Recession is expected to hit the European Union in the upcoming winter months, according to the European Commission's latest economic forecast. 

The EU's executive revised growth forecasts upward for 2022, citing consumer spending as COVID-19 lockdowns eased. But the Commission now predicts an economic slowdown, forecasting that inflation will also remain high next year. The bloc expects growth of 0.3% for 2023 overall.

China Grants Zero Tariffs to Uganda

Uganda's Business Community has welcomed a move by China to grant zero-tariff treatment on 98% of taxable items from 10 less developed countries including Uganda.


The policy that takes effect on 1st December targets less developed countries that have diplomatic relations with China.

Donald Trump lashes out at fellow President hopeful Ron DeSantis

Former US President Donald Trump has hit out at Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, belittling his Republican rival as "average."


Mr DeSantis won re-election in his state convincingly in Tuesday's Midterms, boosting his chances of becoming his party's nominee for the White House in 2024.

Ukraine says its forces are entering Kherson after Russian withdrawal

EU unveils new emissions rules for last generation of new petrol & diesel cars

Long sentences for couple who tried to sell nuclear secrets

A former US Navy engineer and his wife have been jailed for trying to sell military secrets to a foreign country.


Jonathan Toebbe <pron: toby>  was given an 19 year sentence for offering secrets about nuclear-powered submarines. 


His wife Diana Toebbe received 21 years for helping and attempting to hide her role.
