Biden in Poland to see refugee crisis

US President Joe Biden is in Poland to look at the humanitarian crisis
created by Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

More than 3.5 million Ukrainians have fled the country, many of them to Poland.

British intelligence shows strong Ukrainian resistance, Russians stalling around Kiev

Sacked P&O staff offered £36.5m compensation

The head of P&O Ferries is facing pressure to resign over the decision to sack 800 staff without notice.


UK Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said the company knowingly broke the law by not consulting unions.

 

It's now offering millions in compensation to those impacted.

EU and US strike energy deal in bid to wean Europe off of Russian gas

The European Union and the United States have struck a new energy partnership deal in a bid to reduce the EU's dependence on Russian gas as the conflict in Ukraine enters its second month.

Japan says North Korea ICBM launch raises threat level

Biden calls for G20 to expel Russia, unveils fresh assistance for Ukraine

President Biden says he believes Russia should be stripped of membership in the G20….and he said if other G20 members did not agree, then he would propose that Ukraine should attend the group's summit in Indonesia later this year.


He unveiled a billion dollars in humanitarian relief for Ukraine, and said the US will open its doors to up to 100,000 refugees from the conflict.


Speaking after an emergency NATO summit in Brussels, the President said the alliance is determined to project unprecedented unity in light of the Russian invasion.

NATO leaders agree to reinforce alliance's eastern flank

NATO leaders have agreed to send troop reinforcements to the alliance's eastern fringes in light of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
