EU and US strike energy deal in bid to wean Europe off of Russian gas

The European Union and the United States have struck a new energy partnership deal in a bid to reduce the EU's dependence on Russian gas as the conflict in Ukraine enters its second month.


US President Joe Biden and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen made the announcement as Biden wrapped up a visit to Brussels for NATO, G7 and EU summits.
