Tanzania issues travel advisory aimed at controlling the COVID-19 pandemic

Tanzania has issued a COVID-19 travel advisory aimed at controlling the coronavirus pandemic. In a statement by Tanzania's Health Permanent Secretary, new measures will be effective Tuesday

UK AND INDIA ANNOUNCE TRADE DEALS

The UK and India have announced trade and investment deals worth £1bn ($1.39bn).

It comes as Prime Ministers Boris Johnson and Narendra Modi hold a virtual bilateral meeting.

Mr Johnson was due to visit India last month but postponed the trip because of the country's Covid-19 crisis.

International Trade Secretary Liz Truss says the new deals will create around 6000 jobs in the UK - but insists there is more progress to be made.

India's COVID19 tally crosses 20 million mark

India recorded more than 357,000 cases and nearly 3450 deaths in the last 24 hours. Experts say the second wave is expected to peak in another two to three weeks.

As hospitals across the country continue to struggle with oxygen shortages more than a week in, many are calling on Prime Minister Modi to impose a nationwide lockdown.

Moderna to Supply Doses to COVAX

Andrew Brown Jr's funeral held in Elizabeth City, North Carolina


Attorneys for the family of Andrew Brown Jr once again called for bodycam footage of his shooting to be made public as his funeral service was held in North Carolina.


The 42-year-old black man was shot dead by sheriff's deputies last month.

COVID-19: Nigeria government bans travellers from Brazil, India, Turkey


Nigerian authorities have placed a ban on travellers from India, Brazil or Turkey within 14 days of intended arrival into Nigeria.

EU Commission presents plans to allow international travel to resume from June

The European Union's executive arm has proposed easing restrictions on international travel for tourists who've been fully vaccinated, or who are travelling from countries with low-levels of infection. 

The new system would replace the blanket ban on non-essential travel, in place for more than a year. 

The European Commission hopes the plans could be adopted by EU member states later this month.

France re-opens high schools as Covid-19 restrictions continue to ease

Secondary-school pupils in France are going back to class today/on Monday after an extended coronavirus schools closure which began in late March.

Slight dip in India's daily cases but oxygen shortage persists

India has reported more than 368,000 cases and 3400 deaths in the last 24 hours.

This is the twelfth straight day that India's added more than 300,000 cases to its total tally that's nearing the 20 million mark.

Hospitals across the country are still struggling with an acute shortage of medical oxygen and the country's Supreme Court has now asked the Indian government to fix this immediately.

The Philippines accuses Hong Kong of discrimination over COVID-19 testing
