Duterte demands US pays if it wants to keep security pact

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte is demanding that the United States must pay if it wants to keep a security pact that is central to U.S. strategy in Asia.

Mr Duterte unilaterally cancelled the Visiting Force Agreement last year in response to an ally being denied a U.S. visa.

U.S. sees an overall drop in coronavirus cases amid fears over mutant strains

A number of U.S. states are loosening coronavirus restrictions, amid a pick-up in the pace of vaccinations and a slowing of the spread.

ENERGY EXPORTS LESS THAN HALF OF ALL RUSSIAN EXPORTS, FOR FIRST TIME IN TWO DECADES

Less than half of Russia's total exports in 2020 came from energy — a first for two decades.

Coal, oil and gas exports accounted for just 49.6% of all exports -- hampered by very low oil prices at the beginning of the year.

But overall, Russia's total exports exceeded 100 billion dollars, beating more pessimistic forecasts from earlier in the year as energy prices recovered.

Death toll rises in Himalayan disaster in Uttarakhand
