India recorded its largest spike to date of over 9800 coronavirus cases in 24 hours, making it the 7th largest outbreak across the world.

The total number of COVID 19 cases in the country has exceeded 226,000, and the death toll rose to at least 6300.

UK doctors say face coverings should be worn not just on transport

Doctors in the UK are urging the government to make face coverings compulsory in all places where social distancing isn't possible, not only on public transport.

Passengers on public transport in England must wear a covering from June 15th, but the British Medical Association, the doctors' union, believes masks "should not be restricted" just to transport.

'AIR BRIDGES' TALKS PROGRESS WITH UK

It's reported a number of European countries are in advanced negotiations with the UK to set up so-called 'air bridges'.

These would be bilateral exemptions to the 14-day quarantine for international arrivals in the UK which is being imposed from Monday.

Greece, Turkey and Spain are understood to be among the countries keen to reach agreements to allow summer tourism.

It comes as British Airways did not attend a meeting with the Home Secretary Priti Patel to discuss the controversial quarantine requirements.

UK HOSTS INTERNATIONAL VACCINE SUMMIT

The UK is hosting a global vaccine summit (Thursday) - aiming to raise $7.4 billion to immunise 300 million more children against a series of diseases.
