The family of George Floyd, the African American whose killing at the hands of Minneapolis police has sparked ten days of nationwide protests, are preparing to hold a private memorial service later [Thursday].
Services are planned in Houston (his hometown) and in other cities across the United States, while tensions remain high following both peaceful and violent demonstrations.
Wednesday night protests were largely peaceful, but clashes between police and protestors continued to play out in some cities.
