EU Officials Consider Classifying Brexit as 'Major Disaster'

EU officials are considering classifying a no-deal Brexit as a "major disaster", with the European Commission expected to announce on Wednesday plans to increase  Brexit preparations once again.


Rumblings inside the EU, suggest no-deal is becoming the bloc's default expectation.

German minister: We committed 'genocide' in Namibia

Germany's development minister has said his country committed genocide in Namibia at the beginning of the twentieth century.

The affected tribes have long sought compensation from Berlin for its role in Africa's colonial history.

Fire breaks out at gas plant in India

A major fire broke out at a gas facility near India's financial capital Mumbai on Tuesday morning local time.

At least four people have been killed in the fire, according to reports.

BORIS JOHNSON: 'I DON'T WANT AN ELECTION'

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson says he 'doesn't want' an election.

He's addressed the nation from Downing Street amid speculation he may call a snap election as soon as this week.

It comes as MPs prepare to attempt to legislate to stop Boris Johnson being able to deliver a 'no deal' Brexit.

In his address Boris Johnson insisted progress is being made towards a deal with the EU, but says MPs will harm those prospects if they move towards another Brexit delay.

No changes to Irish Backstop until after Withdrawal Agreement -Barnier


The EU's chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier insists no changes will be made to the Irish backstop until after the UK ratifies the EU Withdrawal Agreement.

UK MPs GEAR UP FOR BREXIT BATTLE IN PARLIAMENT

Conservative MPs in the UK are being warned they may be thrown out of the party if they rebel against the government over Brexit.

A number of Conservative lawmakers are planning to vote against the government this week to try and avoid a 'no deal' Brexit.

MPs return to Parliament on Tuesday and some will attempt to pass legislation to force Prime Minister Boris Johnson to rule out 'no deal'.

Mr Johnson insists he wants to reach a deal with Brussels before the scheduled Brexit date of October 31st.

Date set for 9/11 plotters trial

A date has been set for the trial of five people suspected of plotting
terrorist attack on September 11th, 2001.

The men were captured in Pakistan and eventually delivered to
Guantanamo Bay in 2006.

This marks the first time a trial date has been set for those accused
of masterminding an attack that killed nearly 3,000 people.

Hurricane Dorian strengthens as it approaches Florida

Indian government counters rumours of arrests and deportations in Assam

On Saturday, the Indian state of Assam will publish a list of 'genuine' citizens and identity illegal immigrants.

Ahead of that the Indian government has stepped up security and is holding an information drive to tell people that they will not become stateless if they fail to qualify. 

In the last four years, Assam's 32 million residents here have been asked to prove that they or their ancestors lived in India prior to 1971- that's when the Bangladesh liberation war began and Assam saw a massive influx of people across the state's porous border.
