MASS FUNERALS IN SRI LANKA

Mass funerals have started in Sri Lanka on a day of mourning for the victims of Sunday's terror attacks.

Police say 310 people are now known to have died at churches and hotels.

A state of emergency remains in place in Sri Lanka to try and stop any further attacks.

Police have arrested 40 people in connection with the bomb blasts, while the government says local Islamist group NTJ was behind them.

Father Prasad Harsan of the Colombo Archdiocese says it's a difficult time.

Climate protests in the UK are into their second week, with over 1000 people now arrested.

Demonstrators are focusing on Westminster on Tuesday - demanding meetings with lawmakers, and insisting a citizens' assembly is set up to focus on climate issues.

Extinction Rebellion, which is organizing the protests, is planning further action in London throughout the week.

But the demonstrations are being criticised over the disruption being caused to the British capital, and the strain on police.

India votes in third phase of polls, the largest so far

188 million voters in over 110 constituencies in India will vote in the third phase of a seven phased election.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is seeking re-election. He's being challenged by Rahul Gandhi- the chief of India's main Opposition party, Congress.

The general election began on April 11 and will end on May 19. Votes will be counted on May 23.

Journalists testing the devices reported partial to full screen failures just days after receiving the phone.

Some removed a protective plastic layer that Samsung now advises you're not supposed to remove.

But the full scope of issues is unclear.

Samsung says it will announce a new launch date in several weeks.

But some tech critics are suggesting the technology is far from ready for consumer pockets.

Kim, Putin to meet in Russia: KCNA

North Korea says Kim Jong-un and President Vladimir Putin will be meeting soon. The exact details aren't confirmed, but media report the two could hold their first summit this week.

North Korea has made its first official acknowledgement that the Kim-Putin summit is on.

State media reports Kim will be visiting Russia at Putin's invitation.

The report didn't say when or where, but South Korean and Japanese media predict they'll meet as soon as Wednesday in the east coast city of Vladivostok.

Kim is struggling to convince President Trump to ease sanctions, and he may be turning to Putin for help.

The Russian president may see an opportunity to boost his diplomatic profile in the region.

The United States has ended oil sanctions waivers for eight countries importing from Iran.

South Korea says it will lobby Washington 'at all levels' to continue importing oil from Iran.

But Seoul did say it would only do that until next month's waiver deadline.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the waivers end May second, no exceptions.

Pompeo said the U.S. wants to deprive Iran of funds it's used to destabilise the Middle East.

South Korea is heavily dependent on foreign oil, and it's looking for alternatives.

But some analysts suspect the move could strain ties with Washington.

UK reports suggest Donald Trump has accepted an invitation from the Queen for a full state visit to the UK in June.

It would coincide with a trip to France to commemorate the 75th anniversary of D-Day, the landings of allied troops during the Second World War.

The UK previously downgraded Trump's trip to the UK last year below that of a full state visit.

UPDATE: Authorities in Sri Lanka say bombings that killed 290 people on Sunday were carried out by a local jihadist group with the support of an "international network."

Suicide attacks ripped through a series of churches and hotels across the country over the weekend.

NASA launch plans in jeopardy

NASA's plans to return humans to space from US soil have suffered a setback.

US to end sanctions waivers for countries that buy Iranian oil

The U.S. is ending exemptions from sanctions for countries that buy oil from Iran.

The U.S. reimposed sanctions on imports of Iranian oil in November after President Trump pulled out of a nuclear deal with Iran and other world powers.

Eight countries were granted exemptions but they will expire in early May, after which they could face economic penalties.

According to Japanese and South Korean media, Kim could meet Putin from Wednesday in Vladivostok.

Death toll in Sri Lanka blasts climbs to 290

290 people have been killed and about 500 wounded by a string of bombings that tore through churches and luxury hotels on Easter Sunday in Sri Lanka.

The police have arrested 24 suspects but have not named the organisation behind the bombings.

Subpoena issued for full un-redacted Mueller report
