Russia urges dialogue in Venezuela crisis

Russia's Foreign Ministry has called for dialogue to help solve the ongoing crisis in Venezuela.


It comes amid growing fears that Russia will intervene militarily to ensure the continuity of Nicolas Maduro's presidency.

UK REQUESTS NEW BREXIT DELAY

UK Prime Minister Theresa May's written to the EU, seeking a further extension to Brexit to June 30th.

Brussels sources suggest European Council President Donald Tusk is considering offering a 12 month delay - but giving the UK the ability to leave the bloc sooner if its Parliament passes a deal.

In the UK, the Conservatives and opposition Labour Party continue talks to try and find a Brexit compromise.

Britain is currently due to leave the EU on 12th April.

BREXIT FLEXIBLE EXTENSION

European Council President Donald Tusk is likely to offer the U.K a flexible Brexit extension of up to one year - with the option of leaving the EU sooner if a divorce deal is passed.

S. Korea battles wildfires that have killed one and injured dozens

South Korea is battling fatal wildfires along its eastern coast that have shocked a typically peaceful part of the country known for its hiking and ocean views.

More than four-thousand people have been evacuated in cities not far from the border with North Korea.

 

Officials say at least one person has died and dozens of others were injured.

 

The blaze tore through hundreds of homes and other buildings overnight.

 

The government says the main fire is now under control but other smaller fires are still burning.

 

The military deployed thousands of soldiers and dozens of helicopters and fire trucks to battle the inferno.

 

One of the affected cities, Gangneung, hosted events during last year's winter Olympics.

Poll: Majority of Germans reject increased defense spending

According to a new poll, fifty three percent of Germans are against increasing defense spending, in spite of repeated criticism from U.S. officials.

American Tourist Kidnapped in Uganda still Missing

Boeing Apologizes for Lion Air and Ethiopian Airline 737 Max Crashes

The Chief Executive of Boeing has apologized to the family and friends of those who died in two crashes involving the 737 Max 8.

US Attorney General denies inaccurate précis of Mueller Report

Windrush Compensation set aside by UK Home Office

Britain's Home Secretary has announced that it will compensate people whose lives were damaged by a Home Office mistake, which classified thousands of long-term British residents as illegal immigrants.


Those known as the Windrush Generation, were brought to the uk as a response to its post-war labour shortages between 1948 and 1971.


But because of a lack of official paperwork, the children of these commonwealth citizens were told they had been living in the UK illegally.
