South Korea is battling fatal wildfires along its eastern coast that have shocked a typically peaceful part of the country known for its hiking and ocean views.

More than four-thousand people have been evacuated in cities not far from the border with North Korea.
Officials say at least one person has died and dozens of others were injured.
The blaze tore through hundreds of homes and other buildings overnight.
The government says the main fire is now under control but other smaller fires are still burning.
The military deployed thousands of soldiers and dozens of helicopters and fire trucks to battle the inferno.
One of the affected cities, Gangneung, hosted events during last year's winter Olympics.
