UK CONTINUES TO SEEK BREXIT BACKSTOP CHANGES

The UK's Brexit Secretary is meeting with EU ambassadors in London (Friday) to call for legally binding changes to the Irish border backstop solution.

It comes after the government was defeated in a vote on its Brexit strategy in the House of Commons on Thursday.

Downing Street insists it continues to work towards changes to the backstop in the Brexit deal - and then an EU exit as planned next month.

The opposition Labour Party says the vote shows Prime Minister Theresa May's Brexit deal is dead.

Conservative MP Bob Stewart says he still hopes a deal will be reached.

The UK's Home Secretary says a British teenager who travelled to Syria while a schoolgirl to join the Islamic State could be prevented from returning to Britain.

Home Secretary Sajid Javid says she could be stopped from returning, or prosecuted if she does.

But former British Commander in Afghanistan Colonel Richard Kemp says the UK system is not set up like that of the United States to deal with returnees who've been radicalised.

Ambassador Harris said the U.S. and North Korea share the same goal.

That is, a final, fully verified removal of nuclear weapons from the Korean Peninsula.

Speaking at a security forum in Seoul, Harris also suggested North Korea has a brighter future if it gives up its nuclear weapons.

Harris also said the U.S. and Seoul completely agree sanctions stay in place until denuclearization.

At their first meeting last year, President Trump and leader Kim agreed Kim would give up his weapons.

But as they prepare for a second summit, little progress has been made toward that end.
