UK Companies likely to increase no-deal Brexit planning

British companies are likely to increase their no deal planning, as the UK Prime Minister attempts to reopen Brexit negotiations with Brussels.


The UK's Confederation of British Industry commented that the move to attempt a renegotiation of the EU Withdrawal Bill feels like a throw of the dice, causing more uncertainty for businesses.

Taxi drivers, carpooling services attempt to strike deal amid fatal protests


Taxi unions and ride-sharing companies are trying to work out a deal in Seoul to prevent more tragedies as protests against carpooling apps have turned fatal.

The taxi industry and ride-sharing services are trying to find a way to share the road.

And avoid more death.

The South Korean government now says carpooling apps will only launch once they've reached a deal with taxi associations.

Talks follow mass demonstrations by taxi unions against the government.

Under transportation law, carpooling apps are allowed to be used only during rush hour.

But traditional cabbies claim it would cut deeply into their already meager wages.

Two drivers even lit themselves on fire in protest and later died.

France suggests for first time it could repatriate French ISIS fighters

The French Foreign Ministry has suggested for the first time that it is willing to repatriate French citizens who fought with the Islamic State group and are now in the hands of Kurdish troops in northern Syria.

The government now says it's looking at all options to prevent these people escaping and posing a danger.

Maduro expresses openness to dialogue with opposition

Nicolas Maduro says he is open to dialogue with the opposition, amid the ongoing political crisis in Venezuela.

UK PM to return to Brussels to attempt to reopen Brexit bill


The British Parliament has voted in favour of a Brexit amendment, which would seek "alternative arrangements" to replace the controversial Irish border backstop.


The backstop is an insurance policy to avoid a hard border between the Republic of Ireland, which is part of the EU and Northern Ireland which belongs to the UK.


While the amendment caries no legal weight, it gives the Prime Minister more clout to return to Brussels and attempt to reopen Brexit negotiations to secure a legally binding change.


But MPs also voted in favour of an amendment to rule out a no deal scenario.

California’s largest power company has filed for bankruptcy

California's largest power company, Pacific Gas and Electric, has filed for bankruptcy.
