UK PM: 'MANDATE' FOR NEW BREXIT NEGOTIATIONS

UK Prime Minister Theresa May says she has a 'mandate' for further negotiations with the EU on Brexit, after a series of votes in the House of Commons.

Attempts to tie her hands in a binding manner to avoid a 'no deal' Brexit failed to win the support of lawmakers.

But her own MPs backed a motion calling for changes to the controversial Irish border backstop solution - demonstrating rare Conservative Party unity.

Britain's due to leave the EU on March 29th - but a deal agreed with Brussels was voted down by UK MPs earlier this month.
