Putin and Erdogan to meet to discuss the fate of Idlib in Syria

Presidents Erdogan and Putin will meet in Sochi later to try to hammer out a ceasefire that would prevent mass casualties in Idlib in Syria. But as Dan Ashby reports, at their last meeting, President Putin was skeptical that such a plan would work.

Worried about rupee's slide, Indian government announces emergency measures

The rupee has been the worst-performing Asian currency this year- weakening about 11% amid higher oil prices and an emerging markets sell-off.

To prevent the further depreciation of the rupee, the Indian government has announced that it plans to cut down on unnecessary imports, among other emergency measures.

Hurricane Florence claims 4 lives as "violent grind" continues

At least four people are dead after Hurricane Florence slammed ashore in North Carolina.


A mother and child were killed when a tree fell on their house in the city of Wilmington, and two other people died elsewhere in the state.

Trump's former campaign manager Paul Manafort now co-operating with Mueller probe

President Trump's former campaign manager Paul Manafort is now co-operating with the special prosecutor who is investigating ties between the Trump campaign and the Russians.


Mr. Manafort is pleading guilty to an array of conspiracy and fraud charges in Washington, but will only be eligible for a reduced sentence if he co-operates fully with the probe.
