Worried about rupee's slide, Indian government announces emergency measures

The rupee has been the worst-performing Asian currency this year- weakening about 11% amid higher oil prices and an emerging markets sell-off.

To prevent the further depreciation of the rupee, the Indian government has announced that it plans to cut down on unnecessary imports, among other emergency measures.
