Supplies running low in Afghan city as Taliban assault continues

The United Nations warns that food and water supplies are running low
in the Afghan city of Ghazni.

The Taliban stormed the city on Friday and over 100 government
soldiers and members of the police have been killed.

Elon Musk Says Saudis Back Plan to Take Tesla Private

Tesla CEO Elon Musk says Saudi Arabia is backing his latest plans for Tesla. 

Musk surprised investors and analysts with a tweet last week announcing his plans to take Tesla private at 420 dollars a share. 

He claimed funding had been secured, but did not elaborate.

UK opposition leader Corbyn in Palestinian wreath-laying controversy

Britain's opposition Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn says he was present but not involved at a wreath-laying ceremony for members of a Palestinian group involved in the murder of Israeli Olympic athletes in 1972.

It's the latest in a string of controversies that have led critics to accuse Jeremy Corbyn of not doing enough to address allegations of anti-semitism in his party.

Turkey blames US for economic woes

Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the US was seeking to "stab it in the back" as the country's economic woes worsen.

Last week the Turkish Lira plummeted after the US imposed sanctions on two Turkish ministers over the case of an American pastor facing charges in Turkey.

Asian Markets Tumble as Turkish Lira Continues to Slump

Markets in Asia fell sharply as fears grew over the Turkish lira and the potential spill-over effect to other economies.

That's after the lira plunged sharply, touching a new all-time low on Monday, before the central bank rolled out measures to stabilise the currency in afternoon trade.

UK LAUNCHES PLAN TO END ROUGH SLEEPING

The UK government's launched a plan to end rough sleeping in England by 2027.

It's committing £100m (US $127m) to fund housing, support for mental health and addiction issues, and to stop people becoming homeless in the first place.

It's estimated there were around 4750 people sleeping rough on English streets on any given night in 2017, and the homelessness rate has been rising for the last seven years.

Deal on Caspian Sea dispute

India's space agency plans moon mission for 2019

The Indian Space Research Organisation says it is planning to launch two space missions every month over the next year and a half.

US authorities probe how man stole and crashed plane

Authorities in the American city of Seattle say a man who stole a commercial plane from the city's airport before crashing it and killing himself was an airline employee with security clearance.

Counter-protesters outnumber white supremacists at White House rally

Around two-dozen white supremacists protesteted outside the White House for a "Unite the Right" rally on the anniversary of a deadly march in Charlottesville.

They were far outnumbered by thousands of counter-protesters, who chanted anti-racist messages.

Ben Stokes trial: co-accused says he tried to restrain cricketer

A man on trial alongside (New Zealand-born) England cricketer Ben Stokes says he tried to stop the all-rounder attacking his injured friend last September.

Ryan Ali was also allegedly knocked unconscious by Mr. Stokes outside a nightclub in Bristol.

Strikes ground RyanAir flights in Europe

26 killed in torrential rain in Indian state of Kerala

At least 26 people have died in the southern Indian state of Kerala in the last 48 hours. The state's Chief Minister has sounded an alert- calling the situation very grim.
