At least 26 people have died in the southern Indian state of Kerala in the last 48 hours. The state's Chief Minister has sounded an alert- calling the situation very grim.
15,000 people have been evacuated from low-lying areas and the Army, Navy and the Air Force have been pressed into action to help with rescue and relief operations.
