UK LAUNCHES PLAN TO END ROUGH SLEEPING

The UK government's launched a plan to end rough sleeping in England by 2027.

It's committing £100m (US $127m) to fund housing, support for mental health and addiction issues, and to stop people becoming homeless in the first place.

It's estimated there were around 4750 people sleeping rough on English streets on any given night in 2017, and the homelessness rate has been rising for the last seven years.

Howard Sinclair from homelessness charity St Mungo's is giving the plans a cautious welcome.
