NYT: Trump Was Given Clear Evidence of Putin's Orders to Hack Election

Donald Trump was shown highly classified intelligence indicating Vladimir Putin ordered cyber attacks to sway the 2016 American election before his inauguration, according to the New York Times.

President Trump is continuing to defend his handling of the issue on Twitter.

Macron under pressure over security official filmed hitting protester

France's public prosecutor has opened a preliminary inquiry after one of Emmanuel Macron's security officers was filmed hitting and stamping on a protester at a demonstration.

Opposition politicians say the government has tried to cover up the incident, which happened in May.

Report in UK say police have identified nerve agent attackers


British police have identified several Russians involved with the attempted poisoning of a former Russian double agent and his daughter, according to the Press Association. 

The PA says it's been told from a source close to the investigation that detectives believe they have identified the perpetrators who attempted to kill Sergei and Yulia Skripal earlier this year in Salisbury.   From London, Catherine Drew reports.

White House walks back latest

The White House says Russia still poses a threat to American democracy, just hours after President Trump appeared to say the opposite.

Ethiopian airlines resumes direct flight to Eritrea

Ethiopian airlines has resumed flights to Eritrea after 20 years.

Direct air connection between the two countries was blocked after the two countries fought in 1998 and broke off diplomatic ties.

UK PM MAY FIGHTING FOR POLITICAL LIFE

UK Prime Minister Theresa May is fighting to hold onto her job long enough before British MPs head off on their summer recess.

On Tuesday her government won a crucial Brexit vote in the House of Commons on customs arrangements with the EU.

But on Wednesday she'll address Conservative MPs, knowning there are rumours that rebel lawmakers in her party are approaching the level of support they need to trigger a no-confidence vote on her leadership.

That could in turn lead to a change in Prime Minister and a general election - all while the UK is trying to negotiate Brexit with the EU.

Mrs May's former Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson is also due to deliver what could be an explosive statement on his resignation in the House of Commons later.

Trump accepts US intelligence on Russia, denies collusion

U.S. President Trump says he has the greatest respect for America's intelligence agencies and is prepared to accept allegations of Russian meddling in the U.S. elections- but not that he had colluded with Moscow.

In an explosive news conference on Capitol Hill, the president admitted he had mispoken during Monday's press conference with President Vladimir Putin of Russia, while claiming credit for making the relationship better.

President Trump faced mounting pressure and a chorus of criticism from members of his own party over the way he had handled a meeting with President Putin.
