Trump accepts US intelligence on Russia, denies collusion

U.S. President Trump says he has the greatest respect for America's intelligence agencies and is prepared to accept allegations of Russian meddling in the U.S. elections- but not that he had colluded with Moscow.

In an explosive news conference on Capitol Hill, the president admitted he had mispoken during Monday's press conference with President Vladimir Putin of Russia, while claiming credit for making the relationship better.

President Trump faced mounting pressure and a chorus of criticism from members of his own party over the way he had handled a meeting with President Putin.

His critics accused him of making America look weak, and for apologizing for the U.S.
