Prominent US gun store ends sales of assault rifles in wake of Florida shooting

One of America's largest sports retailers is to end sales of all assault-style rifles immediately.

Dick's Sporting Goods, also said that it would no longer sell high-capacity magazines and that it would not sell guns to anyone under 21 years of age.

May says EU plans for Northern Ireland border threatens UK constitutional integrity


British Prime Minister Theresa May says the EU proposal for dealing with the Northern Ireland after Brexit border threatens the "constitutional integrity" of the UK.


Responding to MPs in parliament, Mrs May said no British Prime Minister could agree to such a scenario.     


It comes after the EU's draft legal agreement to oversee the terms of Brexit suggested keeping a common regulatory area on the island to avoid a hard border between Ireland and Northern Ireland . 


 EU chief negotiator Michel Barnier said this was a "backstop" option and would he would be happy to look at alternatives. 


Mrs May told parliament she would inform the President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker of her position.

Maplins and Toys R Us go bankrupt


One of the UK's biggest electronics retailers, Maplins, has gone into administration today.

Ethiopia orders harsh measurers on “Spoilers of Peace”

Ethiopia has ordered Security forces to take all the necessary measures against protesters whom it calls spoilers of peace.

Extreme weather warning issued for Scotland as Beast from the East strikes UK


UK authorities have issued a red warning of extreme weather for Scotland as large parts of the UK suffer under the so-called "Beast from the East", a Siberian weather front, bringing large amounts and snow and freezing temperatures.

Fed Chair's rosy outlook on U.S. economy spooks investors

Parkland students set to return to class

Students will return to a Florida high school later [Wednesday] for the first time since a mass shooting there killed 17 people.

Syrian aid deliveries prevented by shelling

The United Nations says continued shelling in the Syrian suburb of

The UK government says a customs union with the EU after Brexit would harm the national interest and tie its hands on international trade deals.
