Florida shooting: suspect charged with murder

A 19-year-old man has been charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder following a mass shooting at a school in Florida.

Teachers were reportedly warned in advance about the behaviour of Nikolas Cruz, who had been expelled from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.

Seventeen people were killed and dozens more injured in the deadliest US school shooting since 2012.

US blamed for 5 Russian civilian deaths in Syria

Russia's foreign ministry says the United States killed five Russian
civilians in Syria in an airstrike earlier this month.

The bombing on February 7th could further strain relations between the
two countries.

Cyril Ramaphosa sworn in as South Africa's new president

Cyril Ramaphosa has been sworn in as South Africa's president one day after Jacob Zuma resigned.

In a speech to parliament, Mr Ramaphosa said tackling corruption would be a priority.

US flags at half-staff for Florida victims

The White House has decreed that all flags in the U.S. should be lowered to half-staff to honor the 17 victims of the school shooting in Florida.

This comes after U.S. President Donald Trump suggests on social media mental health problems and not gun ownership laws were to blame.

RAMAPHOSA TAKES OVER AS SA PRESIDENT

Cyril Ramaphosa is South Africa's new president.

He was the only candidate nominated in parliament so succeeds Jacob Zuma who resigned on Wednesday.

Mr Zuma had been battling long-running corruption scandals and his own ANC party had demanded he step aside.

Speaking in South Africa's parliament, Cyril Ramaphosa said he would address some of the criticisms aimed at his predecessor's government.

Germany warns India over increased custom duties

India's decision to raise import duties on auto parts from 5% to 15% in its annual budget has irked Germany. The country has warned India the move could trigger retaliatory action.

EU thought to be removing Brexit "punishment clause"

17 DEAD AFTER US SCHOOL SHOOTING

The suspect in a school shooting in the US state of Florida has been named as 19 year-old Nikolas Cruz.

Multiple Fatalities in Florida School Shooting

Police are reporting that there are multiple fatalities in a mass school shooting in the U.S. state of Florida

The gunman has been taken into custody two hours after the first reports emerged of gunshots.

The police say he was a former student of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland.
