European Parliament warns of Russian meddling in upcoming elections

Members of the European Parliament have expressed concern about the potential for Russian meddling in the 2019 european elections.

There have been widespread accusations that Russia was involved in the 2016 US presidential race.

EU and Mexico Close to Signing Free Trade Deal

The European Union and Mexico are close to signing off on a free trade deal. 

While the deal is being designed to boost their respective economies and to create jobs, it's also part of Mexico's scramble to boost trading ties with allies other than the US.

UK TO OFFER MACRON CHANNEL SECURITY BOOST

The UK government is promising to spend an extra £44.5m / $60m on boosting Channel border security.

The announcement comes as French President Emmanuel Macron visits the UK for talks with Prime Minister Theresa May.

He's been calling for Britain to do more to help tackle the number of migrants still trying to make their way from France to the UK.

Britain's also expected to commit to taking in more migrants from the Calais area - particularly children.

Mrs May and Mr Macron hope to show their two countries continue to have a close relationship as Britain leaves the EU.

Russia warns of backlash against US media after 'foreign agent' decision


A Russian diplomat has described the US's decision to label another Russian media outlet as a 'foreign agent' as an attack on liberties and a rejection of alternative viewpoints. Tillerson outlines US strategy on Syria

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson says US troops will remain in Syria after their fight against Isis.

In a speech at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University, Mr Tillerson said the US would maintain a presence in the country to ensure neither Iran or President Assad of Syria could take over newly liberated areas.

As our Washington Correspondent Harry Horton explains, the new US strategy appears to mark a significant departure from President Trump's previously outlined policies.

Apple to Repatriate Billions to US

Apple says it will bring much of its overseas cash back to the United States. 

It's in line to be the first major company to repatriate money from overseas as a result of the new tax laws passed in Washington last month.

20 countries consider further sanctions on North Korea- Trump takes aim at Russia

A group of 20 nations have agreed to consider slapping North Korea
with further sanctions.

At a U.S. hosted meeting the country's Secretary of State rex
Tillerson also warned of a potential military response if Pyongyang
chooses not to negotiate.

This comes as U.S. President Donald Trump says that Russia is helping
North Korea get supplies that defy international sanctions.

Bannon to cooperate with special counsel, resists House questions

Victims of USA Gymnastics doctor give shocking accounts of abuse in Michigan court


The victims of Larry Nassar, the former USA Gymnastics team doctor who has plead guilty to molesting dozens of girls, have been giving shocking accounts of abuse during a sentencing hearing in the US state of Michigan.

One victim, Kyle Stephens, said to Mr Nassar in court: "Little girls don't stay little forever; they grow into strong women that return to destroy your world."

US Navy officers involved in deadly collisions facing military criminal charges


The commanding officers of two US Navy ships involved in collisions in the Pacific Ocean last year are facing military criminal charges.

17 sailors were killed in two separate incidents involving US warships in Asian waters in 2017.

5 Indian men gored to death in bull-taming sport

In the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, 5 spectators at a bull taming festival have been killed after charging bulls broke into the crowd.

The bull taming festival, believed to be over 2000 years old, was banned by India's highest court in 2014 on grounds of animal cruelty. 

The Indian government later lifted that ban following massive protests by locals.
