Turkey signs off on surface to air missile purchase from Russia raising concerns at NATO

Turkey has signed a deal with Russia to purchase 2 point 5 billion dollars worth of surface to air missiles.

The deal is raising eyebrows at the NATO military alliance to which Turkey is a member and Russia is considered an adversary.

NYC FIRE KILLS 12

A fire in an apartment building in the Bronx in New York has left at least 12 people dead.

It's the deadliest fire in the city in a quarter of a century.

160 firefighters brought the blaze under control at the five-storey building.

International Ski Federation suspends 11 Russian athletes banned by IOC

The International Ski Federation (FIS) has provisionally suspended 11 Russian skiers supporting the International Olympic Committee's decision to ban Russian athletes implicated in report on state-supported doping in Russian sports. Visa restrictions lifted after US and Turkey row

The US and Turkey have lifted all visa restrictions after assurances
after a diplomatic row.

The US had suspended all non-immigrant visa services after the arrest
of one of its consulate employees.

Democrat officially declared winner in Alabama Senate race

The surprise victor of the US Senate race in Alabama has officially been declared the winner.

Election officials say Democrat Doug beat Republican Roy Moore in a race seen as a key indication of voter approval of President Trump.

Moore - who had been dogged with allegations of sexual harassment of teenage girls - is still refusing to concede, claiming the election was rife with voter fraud.

UN official blames Saudi-led strikes for civilian deaths in Yemen

The UN's top official in Yemen says 68 civilians have been killed in fighting in the country in just one day.

Jamie McGoldrick, the UN's humanitarian coordinator, blames two Saudi-led air raids for the deaths.

The United Nations reports more than a hundred civilians have been killed in the violence in Yemen over the last ten days.

Israel to name train station near Western Wall after Trump

The Israeli government says it's planning to name a train station after U.S. President Donald Trump, in honor of his decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

The country's transportation minister announced the move [Wednesday] saying the train station will be next to the Western Wall, which is considered one of the holiest sites in the Jewish faith.
