Democrat officially declared winner in Alabama Senate race

The surprise victor of the US Senate race in Alabama has officially been declared the winner.

Election officials say Democrat Doug beat Republican Roy Moore in a race seen as a key indication of voter approval of President Trump.

Moore - who had been dogged with allegations of sexual harassment of teenage girls - is still refusing to concede, claiming the election was rife with voter fraud.
