UK GOVERNMENT UNDER GROWING PRESSURE OVER MINISTERIAL ERRORS

The UK government of Theresa May is under increasing pressure with two senior cabinet ministers facing calls to resign.

Mrs May's administration is already fragile with the Conservative Party propped up in the House of Commons by the DUP of Northern Ireland.

Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson is being heavily criticised for comments which may lead to a British woman having her prison sentence extended in Iran.

And International Development Secretary Priti Patel has apologised for holding meetings with Israeli officials while supposedly on holiday.

UK correspondent Olly Barratt is at Westminster - he says critics insist these are sackable offences.

BORIS TO CALL IRAN OVER JAILED BRITON

UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson is expected to call his Iranian counterpart amid claims comments he made could land a British woman in jail for five more years.

Appearing before a committee of MPs last week Mr Johnson suggested Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe had been training journalists in Iran when she was arrested in 2016.

Her family claims she was simply on holiday at the time of her detention.

She's serving a five-year prison sentence accused of 'propaganda against the regime' and it's feared Boris Johnson's remarks could see that term doubled.

Nazanin's husband Richard says Boris Johnson needs to go further.
