Germany Resists US Push for Increase Defense Spending

Germany says the NATO target of each member country spending two percent of its GDP is on defense neither reachable or desirable.

It's a direct counter view to the United States—which has been increasing the pressure on it's European allies to spend more.

Pres. Trump says Flynn should have immunity

U.S. President Donald Trump has weighed in on the latest developments in the Russian investigations, saying that his former National Security Adviser should be immune from criminal prosecution.

The FBI and both intelligence committees of the US Congress are investigating Russian meddling in American politics, with lawmakers warning Moscow is trying to interfere in upcoming European polls.

EU sends out brexit guidelines

Talks on a trade deal between the UK and the EU can begin once "sufficient progress" is made on the divorce deal .

That's the message from European council president Donald Tusk after he sent out a set of guidelines for brexit to the remaining 27 EU member states.

Tusk says the EU will not seek to punish Britain for leaving

European Council President Donald Tusk says the European Union will not seek to punish Britain as he laid out draft guidelines for the complex Brexit negotiations ahead.

Mr Tusk was speaking as the 27 remaining members meet in Malta to agree their approach to the talks.    He said the bloc wanted strong relations with the UK, to avoid a hard border between Ireland and Northern Ireland however he added that Britain would have to meet all its financial commitments to the EU. 

The leaders have agreed that if enough progress is made on these so-called divorce issues, the EU can begin trade talks.    Mr Tusk said the EU would not seek to punish the UK for leaving.

NATO, Russia share troop movements data, disagree on Ukraine

Russia and NATO agreed to exchange information on their troop movements in Europe during their recent bilateral Counil meeting. The two sides discussed the buildup in the Baltic Sea region,the  situation in Afghanistan. Yet "clear disagreements" between the two sides on Ukrainian crisis remain, NATO noted. Scottish Independence letter sent to Downing Street

A letter from Scotland's first minister Nicola Sturgeon  asking the British government for the go ahead to hold a second referendum on independence has been sent to Downing Street.

Former Trump official offers to testify in exchange for immunity

Donald Trump's former National Security Adviser Mike Flynn has told Congressional and FBI investigations into links between Donald Trump's campaign and Russia he is willing to testify in exchange for immunity.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Mr Flynn - who was privy to high-level foreign policy discussions of the Trump campaign and administration - has so far found no takers on his offer.

Space X reuses rocket in historic first

US company Space X has made history by reusing a rocket to send a communications satellite into orbit.

It's the first time a rocket has been recycled from an earlier launch.

The aerospace industry hopes the breakthrough will lead to a dramatic reduction in the cost of space travel.

Russia still attacking Senators accounts - Rubio

U.S. Senator Marco Rubio told the U.S. Senate's Intelligence Committee, he and his staffers email and other accounts were attacked from Russia.

Senator Mark Warner, the ranking Democrat on the panel, says the goal is to find out where are the fires, with there being so much smoke on Russian meddling in American politics.

Profound concerns about intelligence investigations - Rep. Schiff

The top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee has profound concerns about recent developments, including the New York Times reporting 2 White House officials helped show the chair only certain documents.

The White House has refused to comment on the report and would only confirm that the chairs and ranking members of both Congressional intelligence committees have been invited to view what documents the National Security Council has uncovered.

Representative Adam Schiff, the top Democrat, is worried about what the Trump administration is trying to do, with the sudden invitation to come view possible intelligence.

Trump admin expected to appeal travel ban block

The U.S. Justice Department is reviewing the ruling by a U.S. federal judge blocking the second executive order limiting immigration indefinitely.

The judge pointed out he cannot ignore the public statements of then candidate, now President Trump, calling for a Muslim ban, and he also emphasized that the injuries to tourism, education and business have already occured.

White House Spokesman Sean Spicer said the administration is confident ultimately the executive order will be found constitutional and will move forward.

First test for reusable rockets
