Dozens hurt in New York train derailment

Over 70 people have been hurt after a train came off the tracks at a
busy commuter terminal in Brooklyn New York.

This comes several months after a commuter train crashed into another
transit hub killing one person and injuring over a hundred more.

Trump sides with Assange, not US intelligence, over Russia hack

US President-elect Donald Trump appears to be backing a claim by Wikileaks founder Julian Assange that the Russians were not responsible for hacking into the Decmocratic Party's computer servers.


In a series of dawn Twitter messages, Mr. Trump quoted an interview that Julian Assange gave earlier this week to Fox News.

Obama meets with Democrats on Obamacare

Trump clashes with intelligence agencies over alleged Russian hacking

Donald Trump has announced that a planned intelligence briefing on the
subject of alleged Russian hacking has been delayed.

On Twitter Trump called the move strange and stated that intelligence
agencies may be stalling to help build a case.

Both the CIA and FBI believe Russia orchestrated hacks on the
Democratic Party but the president-elect maintains there's no evidence
to support that claim.

Bellwether Next warns of price rises and profit falls ahead

British retailer Next, which has stores across the UK, Europe, Asia and the Middle East, is warning it's customers face price rises of up to 5 per cent in the coming year due to rising costs .

The multinational warned of a "challenging" year ahead and said  this could affect its profits by as much as 14 per cent.  It came as Next reported a disappointing Christmas trading period as Catherine Drew reports from London.

House Republicans reverse ethics move after Trump slaps them down

U.S. congressional Republicans found themselves at loggerheads with President-Elect Donald Trump on their first day back on Capitol Hill, over a move that would have complicated the incoming president's pledge to 'drain the swamp.'

House Republicans attempted to gut a congressional independent ethics watchdog, which handles whistleblowers. But hours later, they were forced to reverse that proposal after Donald Trump tweeted his disapproval- slapping them down.

Trump targets giant auto maker

US President-elect Donald Trump is threatening car giant General Motors with an import tax on vehicles made in Mexico. 

It's part of his ongoing attempt to get American companies to move, or keep, production in the country.

In a boost for that effort, GM's rival Ford announced that it was scrapping plans for a new Mexican plant, whilst adding 700 US jobs.

Space X says it's ready to resume flights

SpaceX says it's identified the cause of a launch pad exposition that destroyed a communications satellite last year.

The company's Falcon 9 rockets - which provide US access to the International Space Station - have been grounded since the September blast.
