British police say there are now 83 suspects involved in the investigation into child abuse allegations in football clubs...

98 clubs are involved in the inquiry.

EU countries still not sharing enough data on Europeans who have joined ISIS

The EU's counter terrorism co-ordinator Gilles de Kerchove says European countries still need to improve information sharing to trace fighters returning to Europe from Iraq and Syria. 
De Kerchove says he expects them to return in large numbers as the Islamic State group loses territory - and some will be planning attacks.

Dutch far-right politician Geert Wilders convicted in hate-speech trial

Dutch judges have convicted far-right politician Geert Wilders {PRON: gayrt vil-ders} for hate speech and discrimination.

Ahead of the verdict, the anti-immigration and anti-muslim party leader said the result of the trial is irrelevant.

Prosecutors had not called for a prison sentence.

SOUTH KOREAN MPs VOTE TO IMPEACH PRESIDENT

South Korean parliamentarians have voted to impeach President Park Geun-hye amid a corruption controversy which has engulfed her administration.

Some of Ms Park's own MPs voted to impeach her and her authority now passes to the Prime Minister.

Early elections will now follow in South Korea.

WADA to release final part of McLaren's report on Russia’s doping

The Wold Anti-Doping Agency's (WADA) independent investigator prof. Richard McLaren is expected to publish the final part of his report on doping in Russian sports on Friday. On the eve of the release, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has extended until further notice the sanctions imposed on Russia following the doping scandal earlier this year. Prof.McLaren's revelations led to the suspension of Russia's athletic team from the Rio Olympic Games and a blanket ban for its Paralympic Team from international competitions. Hillary Clinton warns 'lives are at risk' because of fake news

Hillary Clinton says "lives are at risk" because of fake news and false online propaganda.

Fake news has flourished online in the past year, prompting some obervers to suggest it might have swayed some voters to back Donald Trump.

Last weekend an armed man showed up at a Washington DC Pizzeria after reading a fake news story suggesting it was tied to a child sex ring linked to the Clintons.

Speaking on lawmakers on Capitol Hill, former Democratic nominee Clinton urged Congress to clamp down on false news stories.

Airlines call on UN to improve "useless"airspace security database

International airline officials said a United Nations warning

US confirms progress toward Aleppo ceasefire

The U.S. is confirming that talks are continuing into how best to implement a ceasefire for Aleppo.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said that the Syrian military has ceased operations in the eastern part of the city, but the White House says they are  listening carefully to what the Russians say, but will also scrutinise their actions."

US Surgeon General Says E-Cigarettes ‘Major Concern’

The US Surgeon General has called for action to reduce the use of e-cigarettes among young people, as part of a new report published on Thursday.

150 civilians evacuated from Aleppo frontline as UN press for humanitarian ceasefire

The Red Cross and Syrian Arab Red Crescent on Wednesday successfully evacuated nearly 150 civilians trapped in an Aleppo hospital. 


Most of them were disabled, or injured by heavy fighting. 


The evacuation came amid renewed calls from the UN for a humanitarian ceasefire in the war-ravaged city.

Increased calls for Congressional investigatiion into election meddling
