ASSAD SAYS TRUMP COULD BE ALLY

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad says he hopes US President-elect Donald Trump will turn out to be an ally in fighting terrorism.

On the campaign trail Mr Trump promised to wipe out the Islamic State group, and questioned the wisdom of fighting Syrian forces at the same time.

Russian government to meet following dismissal of Economy Minister
