Thousands displaced in the Dominican Republic after heavy rains


An estimated 20,000 people have been displaced in the Dominican Republic after heavy rains caused rivers to overflow and break their banks. 

The Dominican Republic's president Danilo Medina has called for a state of emergency in 6 of the 31 provinces on the island nation.
