Trump steps back from central NATO committment

Donald Trump says that, if elected president of the United States, he would set conditions for coming to the aid of NATO members in the event that they were attacked by Russia.

The comments are fueling concerns among America's allies in Europe about the implications of a Trump presidency for the alliance.

UN Security Council Holds Straw Poll To Choose Next Secretary General

The UN Security Council is holding a so-called 'straw poll' this Thursday, as part of the process of choosing the organisation's next Secretary General before Ban Ki Moon's term finishes at the end of this year.

Cruz defends Convention speech

Texas senator Ted Cruz has defended remarks he made in a speech at the
Republican party convention.

Cruz failed to endorse the party's nominee Donald Trump and told
