UK CONSERVATIVES, LABOUR, IN LEADERSHIP RACES

Former London Mayor Boris Johnson and Home Secretary Theresa May are entering the race to become Conservative Party leader and therefore UK Prime Minister.

They're considered the clear front-runners in the process which will choose a successor to David Cameron.

He's stepping aside after losing a campaign to keep Britain in the European Union.

Whoever becomes Conservative leader will also be Prime Minister and be tasked with negotiation a so-called Brexit.

Turkish ministers meet with EU officials in Brussels over Turkey's EU membership aspirations

Turkish ministers are meeting with senior European Union officials in Brussels to discuss Turkey's accession process to join the bloc.

Turkey's potential membership of the EU was used by those in favour of leaving the EU during campaign ahead of the UK's vote to exit the European Union last week.

Debt restructuring for Puerto Rico

U.S. President Barack Obama is set to sign legislation restructuring $72 billion in debt owed by Puerto Rico.

The U.S. Senate approved the legislation with less then two days before the American commonwealth was about to default.

Most banks pass stress tests - US Federal Reserve

31 of the 33 biggest banks in the United States have passed the so-called stress tests imposed by the U.S. Federal Reserve.

Pres. Obama vows to keep working on trade pacts

At the North American leaders summit, U.S. President Barack Obama, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto announced measures to make travel and trade easier between their three countries.

Their promises of cooperation come one day after expected Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump swore to walk away from many trade deals, including the TPP - Trans Pacific Partnership.

U.S. President Barack Obama noted the global economy and trade are already multilateral.

U.S. President Barack Obama expressed condolences to the victims of the terror attack on Attaturk International airport, vowing terrorists would be defeated.

On the record, U.S. officials would not confirm that the Islamic State was behind the attack, but off the record, feel that evidence points to their involvement.

Moscow agrees to NATO talks, after Warsaw summit

Russia has said it will meet with NATO leaders in Warsaw after the NATO summit there next month.

LABOUR MP 'TO LAUNCH LEADERSHIP CHALLENGE'

It's reported that UK Labour MP Angela Eagle will launch a bid to take over as party leader from Jeremy Corbyn.

This is expected to take place on Thursday with Labour MPs angry at Mr Corbyn's leadership and his campaigning ahead of Britain's EU referendum.

Turkey holds day of mourning

Turkey is holding a day of mourning following the deadly bombing attacks at Istanbul's Ataturk airport.

Three attackers opened fire in the airport, and then blew themselves up, killing over 40 and injuring over 200 in the process.

Turkish authorities say they believe the Islamic State group is behind the attack.

The attack came just one day after the US State Department issued a warning to American citizens to watch out for terror threats in Turkey.

However, State Department spokesperson Mark Toner said he's not saying people shouldn't visit the country.

Sturgeon determined to find way for Scotland to stay part of EU

Scotland's First Minister Nicola Sturgeon says she is determined to try to find a way to keep Scotland inside the EU following the UK's Brexit vote,  after a series of meetings in Brussels. 

Ms Sturgeon says she's had a sympathetic response after  explaining Scotland's position to European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and others.   Scotland voted to stay as part of the European Union, while the majority of people in the UK as a whole, voted to leave the block.   

The Scottish leader said that if there was a way for Scotland to remain part of the EU, she would explore those options, and that includes a second referendum on independence from the UK.

Iraq receives military equipment loan from US

Iraq has secured a $2.7 billion loan from the United States to help
them fight against the self-proclaimed Islamic State.

Iraqi forces announced this weekend they had liberated the city of
Fallujah and are now advancing on IS controlled Mosul.

Toyota Recalls 1.43 Million Vehicles Worldwide

Toyota has announced it's recalling 1.43 million vehicles worldwide over a possible fault with the airbags.

The Japanese carmaker hasn't named the supplier of the airbags in question but says it isn't Takata, whose components were at the heart of the car industry's largest ever safety recall.
