UK Defence Secretary suggests air strikes in Syria

The British Defence Secretary has opened the conversation about beginning air strikes on Islamic Sate militants in Syria.

It comes after the latest terror attack in Sousse, Tunisia, in which 30 British people were killed after a gunman with links to IS targeted tourists on a beach before detonating explosives in a hotel.

While the British Government dos not need the backing of MPs to begin airstrikes in Syria, the Defence Secretary, Michael Fallon has said that action would not be taken without a majority vote.

He began by explaining to the House of Commons the work Britain is currently doing to remove the threat of the Islamic State.

With talks suspended between Brussels and Athens, all eyes are now on Sunday's referendum in Greece to determine whether the Greek people want to accept the conditions for another financial rescue.

Though Eurozone leaders are urging voters to choose 'yes' - Greece's finance minister Yanis Varoufakis has threatened to resign if a new proposal does not include more debt relief for the country.

Eurogroup freezes Greece talks until referendum

The eurozone has slammed the door to further talks with the Greek government until the country decides on the next course of action in a referendum on Sunday.

Finance ministers of Europe's single currency said they took into account Prime Minister Tsipras's latest offering - a revised bailout proposal which appeared to give some concessions.

But the leftist government in Athens has remained firm on areas like pension age and tax exemptions for some Greek islands.

Eurozone leaders on Wednesday dismissed the possibility of renegotiating Greece's expired bailout, instead calling for Greek voters to choose 'yes' in a referendum on whether the country should accept a bailout program to avoid a Greek default and exit from the euro.... a fate Prime Minister Tsipras denies will be the case should voters choose 'no'.

After a short teleconference President of the Eurogroup Jeroen Dijsselbloem said no talks will be held until after Sunday.
