Paraguay ends diplomatic immunity for CONMEBOL, amid FIFA scandal

Paraguay's congress has voted to withdraw diplomatic immunity from the headquarters of the CONMEBOL, also known as the South America football confederation, located in its capital city Asuncion. 

The move comes as both US and Swiss authorities investigate football's governing body FIFA on charges of bribery and corruption.

North Korea says US targeting it with anthrax, calls for UN probe

North Korea has accused the United States of using anthrax on the Asian state, and called on the United Nations to investigate.


The request came in the wake of revelations that samples of live anthrax has been mistakenly sent to labs in several countries, including Pyong Yang's rival South Korea.

Rising cost of fight against Islamic State

America's decision to increase its military commitment in Iraq is becoming a political issue in the U.S.

Parents accuse US civil rights activist of "pretending to be black"

A prominent civil rights leader in the United States has been accused by her own parents of pretending to be black.


Rachel Dolezal (PRON:  DOLL-EH-ZAL)  heads a leading African-American organization in Washington state, but her Mum and Dad say the 37 year-old is white.

President Obama Facing Trade Showdown on Capitol Hill

US President Barack Obama has been lobbying members of his own party on Capitol Hill in Washington, ahead of what looks to be a tight vote in the House of Representatives on whether to grant him fast track trade authority in order to advance a landmark trade deal with Asia.

The Senate has already backed the measure, but it's opposed by many House Democrats, along with some Republicans.

Prison worker may have supplied tools to escaped convicts

A female prison worker may have provided tools to Richard Matt and
David Sweat- the two men that escaped from New York's Clinton
Correctional Facility last week.

US judge backs charges against police officers in Tamir Rice case

A U.S. judge has backed charges against two Cleveland police officers in the shooting death of a 12 year old boy.

The family of Tamir Rice, who was shot dead in November, have welcomed the move saying they were pleased the 'wheels of justice' have started to turn.

The case is one of a series of episodes involving police violence.

GREECE HOPES FOR DEBT DEAL NEXT WEEK

Greece says it hopes to reach a deal with international creditors next Thursday, despite a major setback in negotiations.

The International Monetary Fund has walked away from talks citing major differences with Greek officials.

But Athens hopes an agreement can be finalised at a meeting of eurozone finance ministers in Brussels on June 18th.

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras's government has pushed back at pension and sales tax reforms requested by creditors, while pressing for more assistance in reducing its debt burden.

If a deal isn't reached, Greece is likely to run out of money this month.

And correspondent Olly Barratt says agreement on Thursday looks a tall order.

Bloodhounds "pick up scent" of New York escapees

Police in New York say they've found the location where two escaped killers are believed to have spent at least one night since they broke out of a maximum security jail.


Bloodhounds are once again on the trail of the two men, whose whereabouts remain a mystery.

UN Envoy Mediating Burundi Talks Resigns
