Turkey anger over Pope "genocide" comment describing 1915 massacre of Armenians

The Pope is facing criticism from Turkey over his use of the word "genocide" in describing the mass killing of Armenians by Ottoman Turks in 1915.

Pope Francis was speaking at a Mass at St. Peter's Basilica to mark the 100th anniversary of the Armenian massacre.

TAX TAKES CENTRE STAGE IN UK ELECTION

Tax cuts are moving to the centre of the UK's general election campaign with the major parties preparing to unveil their manifestos.

The coalition-leading Conservative Party says it wants to slash inheritance tax in the UK - while opposition Labour says it shows Conservative priorities are skewed towards the richest.

The latest polls continue to suggest Labour and the Conservatives are neck-and-neck ahead of May 7th's vote, with a hung parliament and another coalition government therefore a strong possibility.

Russians mark anniversary of the first human space flight

Humanitarian situation in Yemen getting worse by the hour, says UN official

Castro-Obama meet dominates Americas summit

The White House says President Obama talked by phone with Cuban President Raul Castro earlier this week.

The announcement came ahead of expected face-to-face discussions between the two leaders on Saturday at the Summit of the Americas in Panama.

Tornados Flatten Homes in Rural Illinois

General Electric announce major restructuring plan

As part of massive restructuring plan General Electric has announced a
substantial stock buyback plan of up to $50 billion.

The conglomerate also plan to selloff $30 billion of real estate as GE

European charities launch search and rescue mission in the Mediterranean

Two european charities have announced they are to launch a search and rescue operation in the mediterranean sea to save the lives of migrants crossing in flimsy boats to make it to European shores.

Medecin Sans Frontieres and the Migrant Offshore Aid Station say they are forced to take up the operation because European governments have turned their back on the crisis.

A state funeral has been offered by Australia after the death of former cricket captain and commentator, Richie Benaud.

He's died at the age of 84 having revealed in November that he was being treated for skin cancer.
