Consumer data and key earnings set to dominate in the Wall St. preview

With a range of economic data on the docket this week investors will be paying particular attention to the American consumer for signs of how the economy is performing.

And as earnings season kicks into gear Wall Street will be looking at how the big banks performed in the last quarter.
