Hundreds of U.S. soldiers exposed to chemical weapons in Iraq

U.S. military documents show that more than 600 enlisted reported they thought they'd been exposed to chemical weapons during their deployment to Iraq, as initially revealed by the New York Times.

These weapons were not part of a continuing chemical weapons programme by the regime of Saddam Hussein, rather older munitions that had been hidden by militants or the Iraqi military and discovered by the Americans.

OSBORNE: UK WILL PAY HALF EU BILL

The UK will only pay half of a £1.7bn (2.1bn euro) bill demanded by the European Union, according to its finance minister George Osborne.

Brussels had handed Britain the budget surcharge based on new economic growth calculations, and told it to pay by the 1st December.

Critics of Mr Osborne are already questioning the maths used by him to claim after talks in Brussels that Britain's bill has been halved.

But he says the UK will pay £850m instead, and in two payments next year, without accruing interest from December.

EU FINANCE MINISTERS MEET ON UK BILL

European Union finance ministers are meeting in Brussels to discuss the UK's refusal to pay a £1.7bn (2bn euro) bill by December 1st.
