White House wants to send signal with new Iraq resolution

The Obama administration wants to send a political signal with a new resolution on the fight against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria.

The proposed resolution comes after U.S. President Barack Obama's Democratic Party met with multiple defeats in the 2014 U.S. mid-term elections and as the Republicans get set to take full control of the leadership of the U.S. Congress.

White House spokesman Josh Earnest says, President Obama already has the authority to carry out the airstrikes already under way.

IN: "But what...
OUT: ...military force."
