52 Americans were captured and held for more than a year, after a group of Iranian students stormed the US embassy in Tehran.

The incident marked the start of the deterioration of relations between the two countries. But Robert McMahon from the Council on Foreign Relations think tank believes that the two are now uniting against a common enemy.

The latest comments from UN officials come as a judge in Maine rejected a legal request to restrict the movements of a health worker who returned to the US from Sierra Leone.
