Rising concerns about lone-wolf attacks by ISIL

U.S. law enforcement has issued a warning that following the U.S. airstrikes against ISIL positions in Syria, the possibility of lone-wolf attacks in America is on the rise.

The U.S. has conducted over 200 airstrikes in Iraq and Syria against positions held by the self-described Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.

French hostage beheaded by Algerian militants

A French tourist who was kidnapped by an Algerian militant group has allegedly been beheaded by his captors.

A new video claims to show 55 year old Herve Goudel being killed after the group issued a 24-hour ultimatum for the French government to stop air strikes in Iraq.

The Algerian militants known as Jund Al Khalifa have recently pledged allegiance to the so-called Islamic State or ISIS jihadists in Syria and Iraq, responding to calls for western civilians to be targeted.

France and the US are engaged in targeted attacks against ISIS, which has prompted fears of further retaliatory measures.

Our Europe correspondent Sandra Gathmann though says the killing of Mr. Gourdel is unlikely to change France's actions in the region.
