The World Health Organization's Director-General has held a high-level briefing with member states on the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo, which has now become the second largest ever recorded with more than five thousand four hundred confirmed cases.
Response efforts have been severely undermined by community resistance, with some residents in affected areas refusing to bring patients to health facilities — a legacy of corruption scandals during the COVID-19 pandemic.
