Hong Kong pro-democracy activist Joshua Wong has pleaded guilty to conspiring to collude with foreign powers — a national security offence that carries a maximum sentence of life in prison.
The twenty-nine-year-old appeared at the High Court in Hong Kong on Wednesday, in what is his second prosecution under the Beijing-imposed national security law. He was already serving a sentence of more than four years for a separate national security conviction.
Prosecutors say Wong sought to persuade foreign governments to impose sanctions on Hong Kong and China.
