The United States Trade Representative Jamieson Greer says Washington could impose fresh retaliatory tariffs on Canadian goods as early as Tuesday, after Ottawa's sweeping new duties on roughly twenty billion dollars' worth of American products took effect overnight.
The tariffs — covering more than seven hundred US goods including dairy, farm equipment and household appliances — are Canada's response to Washington's fifty per cent levies on Canadian exports imposed last month after trade talks collapsed.
US President Donald Trump has also called for a boycott of Canadian jet-maker Bombardier, saying the company must manufacture in the United States.
