US CENTCOM LAUNCHES FRESH STRIKES ON IRAN'S REVOLUTIONARY GUARD AS WALL STREET SLIDES AND OIL SURGES PAST $93

The United States has launched a fresh round of military strikes against Iran's Revolutionary Guard, with US Central Command saying it hit targets near the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday in response to recent attacks on commercial shipping and American forces in the region.

Iran's Foreign Ministry has called the strikes a strategic mistake, warning that Tehran will not allow Washington to use the southern route of the strait.

The escalation comes after US President Donald Trump said on Monday that the US might, in his words, smack Iran — a day after American forces struck rocket launch sites on Larak Island.

Mitch Mccann in New York says US President Donald Trump left the door open to renewed military action on Monday, and has now followed through with strikes that mark a sharp change in approach within twenty-four hours.
