SOUTH KOREA AND FRANCE CREATE MINISTERIAL-LEVEL TRADE BODY AS PRESIDENT LEE'S STATE VISIT GETS UNDER WAY

South Korea and France have announced the creation of a new ministerial-level body for regular talks on industry, trade and supply chains, as South Korean President Lee Jae Myung begins a visit to France.

Seoul says it will use the new channel to press for guarantees that Korean companies are not disadvantaged by European industrial subsidies.

France considers itself an Indo-Pacific power in its own right, with overseas territories across the Pacific and Indian Oceans, and the Korean Peninsula is expected to feature prominently in Tuesday's summit talks at the Elysée Palace.

From Paris, Ross Cullen reports.
